St. Paul's Episcopal Church

"Life is short and we have too little time to gladden the hearts of those who travel the way with us. Be swift to love. Make haste to be kind.” Henri Frederic Amiel, a 19th century Swiss philosopher

St. Paul's Episcopal Church's third annual Blue Christmas gathering will be on Sunday, December 19th, 2010 at 4 p.m. A wonderful time of sharing and hearing prayers, Scripture and music that acknowledge that God's presence for those who mourn - and that God's Word comes to shine light into our darkness regardless of our struggles. The brief service will be followed by a time for light refreshments and fellowship.

The constant refrain on the radio and television, in shopping malls and churches about the happiness of the Christmas season reminds many people of what they have lost or have never had.

Broken relationships, the insecurity of unemployment, ill health, the pain of isolation, the loss of a loved one - all of these can leave people feeling alone or 'blue' in the midst of the society around us which seems bent on being happy and celebrating. It is at such times that we need to take the time to acknowledge our sadness and concern and know that we are not alone.

St. Paul's Episcopal Church is hosting a Blue Christmas gathering on Sunday, December 19th, 2010 at 4 p.m. The public is invited to join in sharing and hearing prayers, Scripture and music that acknowledge that God's presence for those who mourn - and that God's Word comes to shine light into our darkness regardless of our struggles. The brief service will be followed by a time for light refreshments and fellowship.

Please accept this invitation to be with us - a time to move from feeling 'blue' to experiencing the wonder and hope of Christmas. No need to RSVP - our doors will be open to all who come.

For more information, please contact the Rev. Stacy Walker-Frontjes at (815) 756-4888.
